TweetDeck by Twitter App Reviews

so far kinda okay

Got it set up for my three twitter accounts. A little bit tricky. You have to sign-out of account before you can add another. Figured it out. I like that I can make the font larger. What I have not figured out yet is how to easily switch between accounts. In the preferences I can select my "default" account but without going back there and switching the default I cant see anywhere on the interface to quickly switch between accounts displayed. I may be missing something obvious???

Thanks for nothing, Tweetdeck!

I was forced to update. A little message kept telling me that in May my current version would no longer work, and even before this date hit it started giving me error messages when I tried to post anything (I could read things fine, however). So I updated to the latest one and it doesnt work AT ALL. I just get a blank dark grey screen. When I press things like "Add Column", nothing happens. One heck of an upgrade, guys!

0 Stars

Ive been a Tweetdeck user for over 3 years, and it had always been a 5 start application for me. Not so true anymore. This is just another example of what happens to a well developed program when the company is bought by a large company. They dont care. I would have chosen 0 stars if had the choice. What happened to single column? What happened to pop-up notifications? What happened to this app?

Former User

I used to use this program nearly exclusively for updating my own personal Twitter feed and Facebook status, as well as a company feed and Facebook page. I liked that I could share everything from one app, or update Twitter or Facebook exclusively from one place. I would have loved to see Google+ integration, but thats another can of worms altogether. As of May 7, there is no longer Facebook support or accessibility from within Tweetdeck. Just another example of how social media companies seem to believe that they must have the monopoly on social media instead of understanding that each of the major tools (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Google+) fill separate roles and MOST users use all of them for different purposes. Not having cross-compatibility just means we, the users, get frustrated and become that much closer to dumping the tool altogether. As has finally happened for me with Tweetdeck.

What were you thinking?

Ive been using Tweetdeck for years and it worked just fine, then I was forced to update to this version. Im not sure if you just didnt test your own product or look at why people liked the app to begin with but youve effectively ruined it. A few things I miss, pop-up notifications, the shortening of links when you put them into the tweet youre writing, it not erroring out 80% of the time. Seriously guys, what happened here, did you let the interns loose on the update or do you just not care about your consumer base. I would have given you more than one star if I dont have to now spend time looking for another app that is up to the standards Tweetdeck used to be.

Trends

I like this! Its very easy to use but it really, really needs trends. Thats the biggest plus of twitter and right now, you have to click twice to find trends but you have to save a search in order for it to show up which is useless.

Not the app it used to be

The old TweetDeck was my fav Twitter app. No longer. This version makes it easier to read than the last version, but it lacks one feature Im now looking for elsewhere - the bar across the top. I could easily do group thanks for shouts & RTs. Now I have to thank each Tweep individually. Not efficient. Very time consuming. Very disappointing.

Translate this app in french.

Im a french user of this app, and I will very appreciate if you make this app in french. By the way, nice app!

Just hangs and doesn

Doesnt work on my Mac, OS X, 10.6.8.

Can

Needed feature for people that handle brand and company accounts...

Has potential

This would work much better if the columns had some sort of ‘snap’ motion rather than just constantly drifting around from left to right while you have two fingers on the trackpad. It feels a bit shakey and sloppy to use sometimes. I like the features so I will continue to use for now.

Recommended

Works the way I like to use Twitter.

Asbolutely horrible app. Please fix this.

Crashes all the time. Will beechball and show 100% usage and needs to be force quit. Now it causes the whole screen to flash whenever you click anything or do anything in the app. Super annoying and makes it unusable.

Frustrating

I cant use it anymore. Runs too slow, needs to be forced to quit constantly. Frustrated.

Good

I’m not a power user, I just prefer using a desktop client rather than Twitter web while I’m at work, and here’s my opinion: It does what it’s supposed to do for me. I can view tweets, interact, view videos, gifs, etc. all within the app. It also resizes pretty comfortably, which is my main issue with the web version. I can share the screen with other windows open and casually view tweets. That’s all I need to be happy. Hasn’t crashed on me either. 2011 iMac, latest OS.

Decent featureset, but buggy

It has a decent number of features, and good ability to filter/mute/search. Its pretty buggy on my OSX 10.6.8 though. The worst one is that it will stop connecting to the internet after running for a few hours (not a computer/internet problem; just Tweetdeck). Not sure if this is realted to a twitter timeout? More minor problems: it does a weird flashing screen thing when I click on things, and sometimes when I check a tweets details the column freezes and I have to quit and re-launch the app. Also, it would be nice to have a bookmark feature to back to the last read tweet, or to keep the column position while loading new tweets above.

Can’t even remember my password

Twitter insists that have have a long, complex, impossible to remember password, then proceeds to never remember my credentials. How useless is that!?

Update It So It Works With El Capitan

Ive updated to El Capitan and Ive been having probelms getting Tweetdeck to work. NOTHING shows up. It just keeps on spinning or just doesnt spin at all.

Try something else.

Downloaded and then deleted this app in the past though I couldn’t remember why so I gave it another shot. It just doesn’t seem to work for me. Played with the settings a bit and made it a little more useable but now settings won’t open so I can change anything else. I’ll look for something else

it’s okay, and yes it does work.

i’m on el capitan 10.11.4 and it works fine. i prefer using the dark theme, but its really rough on the eyes with the contrast between bg and font. i like that you can make some customizations to the appearance, but it’s really limited. i give this a 4 star, but i think im gonna stick with the standard twitter app for os x
